Let's call them what they are: Terrorists not pro-Russian Separatists

Today I am proud not to be Russian

Last week, someone pushed a button and annihilated 298 innocent lives, sending shockwaves around the world. Today, that someone, and we all know who, took down two Ukrainian fighter planes. We know who because he says he did it. Uh, what don't people get about that?

The Ukrainians have accounted for all their surface to air missiles. The Russians have not said they have accounted for theirs. Someone by the psudo-name of Strelkov "the shooter" has them and got them from somewhere and was trained in how to use them by someone. And he is using them. A week after the civilian plane was shot down, two military planes were shot down. That takes care of Putin's argument that it couldn't have been the rebels as they have no weapons and no training. Putin's people even tried to modify the Wikipedia entry about the events surrounding MH17, replacing that it was shot down by pro-Russian separatists with a claim that it was shot down by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine did not shoot down their own planes today.

I suppose now that the "separatists" have shot down two Ukrainian fighter jets and have once again said they did it, the argument that they don't have the weapons and couldn't know how to fire them is void. Let's cease calling them separatists; they are terrorists pure and simple. They are not fighting for freedom. They are killing for the sake of killing and political gain. If they were separatists they would let the international teams in to investigate the crash site, they would not threaten them with guns. If they were separatists, they would not abduct and torture media, as they have been. This week, Anton Skiba, a Ukrainian journalist, was abducted in Donetsk. Others have been abducted throughout Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. If they wanted freedom, they would work with the media to promote their cause not abduct and kill them. That's just another Russian tactic - not Ukrainian at all.

Let's see what Putin's spin doctors come up with next for their alternate reality show. This alternative reality being lived by the Russian people who are lied to on daily basis is farcical, hardly believable at all, but if that is all they are fed every day, there is little more to do than accept it as true. Although another brave Russian journalist resigned saying she could no longer present blatant lies that she was being told to portray as truths by Putin's punters, it does nothing to curtail the propaganda machine.

Rockets are being fired from Russia into the Ukrainian border region where the Ukrainian troops have regained control of checkpoints. And Russia is reporting that so many Ukrainians have fled into Russia that there is a humanitarian crisis, yet they haven't proven one of their claims. More people have fled to Western Ukraine than crossed the border into Russia. Yet they continue to bombard the people with absurd propaganda and lies.

Today, finally the first bodies from MH17 are being returned to the Netherlands where their journey to eternity began. The effort to identify their remains and the cause of their demise will take some time. I grieve for the families and friends of the victims. I grieve for the innocence lost by the children en route to a new life or a dream vacation. The "black boxes" have been brought to the UK for analysis. The investigators have reported that the cockit of the plane has been sawed in half and evidence tampered with significantly. Will we ever be able to avenge their useless deaths?

Meanwhile, the rest of the world is imploding as well. The Israelis are massacring Hamas in Gaza, Hamas is firing rockets on Israel. If the borders are closed and the people cannot get out by land through Israel and Egypt or by sea, how are they getting the weapons into Gaza?  Syria is getting weapons from Russia, Ukraine's terrorists are getting weapons from Russia, so it stands to reason that Hamas is getting weapons from Russia. Who else?  Who else is part of Putin's destabilization of the world game?  What is his ultimate goal?  I think we need an operative with a license to kill to infiltrate and uncover the real agenda, don't you?

There is a conspiracy theory about Putin having given the order to shoot down the Malaysian Airlines plane and that he was responsible for the disappearance of the first Malaysian Airlines plane a few months ago as a diversion so he could make headway in Ukraine and Crimea. That first episode certainly did take eyes off Ukraine, and the second did stop the Ukrainian's military advances and headway against Donetsk.  Before the disaster, it felt like Ukraine could possibly regain it's territory. Now it's come to a screeching halt and is even sliding backwards. I refuse to believe that Putin would devise a plan so dastardly, and yet, megalomaniac that he is, he may have put things into motion that took care of themselves. As every megalomaniac has in the past, Putin has accused his victims of committing the crime he himself perpetrated in a massive game in which he is the master and everyone else the pawn.

World renown bigotry exposer Yanko Tsvetkov has mapped Putin's prejudices. He has trouble relating to President Obama. He is homophobic. He is pro-Arab and anti-EU. He dislikes women, reporters, and anyone who speaks the truth. As ex-KGB, he is expert in the propaganda machine. All his actions are, therefore, true to his beliefs.

BBC thinks Putin will escape disaster. Personally, I hope they are wrong. So far, the Russian people have been behind Putin with 80% approving his stance on Ukraine. Today, I hope that the Russian people are feeling ashamed of being Russian. Today, I hope the BRICS are feeling they made a big mistake signing a deal with Putin. Today, the EU imposed more piddly sanctions. Let's hope that today, all the forces will align against the terrorists, Putin included.

Europe According to Vladimir Putin (2014) from the Mapping Stereotypes project by Yanko Tsvetkov. The map will appear in the upcoming third volume of the Atlas of Prejudice book series.
